QuranClips lets you upload a Quran recitation and turn it into a video to share. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as the feature needs, and the marketing email is a separate, optional yes — never a condition of using anything.
Who is responsible
QuranClips is operated by dakdekkermarketing.nl, the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at quranclips.com@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
| Your email | Only when you choose to save a video or to get daily credits for AI Shorts. It is your account identity, so the videos you keep stay yours across visits. To prove the address is yours we email you a six-digit code, which works once and expires after 10 minutes. |
| Marketing consent | A separate, unticked box. If — and only if — you tick it, we may email you about QuranClips. You can withdraw it at any time with one tap, and we record when and where you gave it so we can honour that choice. |
| Your uploads & videos | The recitation you upload and the video we render are stored as a job so the app can process it and let you download the result. |
| AI Shorts | Which clips you made and what their AI scenes cost, so each account's free daily credits and our total daily limit can be kept. For the free Short without an account we also keep a one-way, daily-changing code derived from your network address — never the address itself — only to stop one network from taking every free Short. It cannot be turned back into your address, and tomorrow's code for the same network is a different one. |
| Basic technical data | Your language preference and when you were last seen, so the app opens in the right translation and your saved list stays current. |
Cookies and similar technology
A single token is stored in your browser's local storage to recognise you on your next visit; clearing it signs you out. We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which does not use cookies. We also count, per visit, only the country your browser's time zone points to and the site that linked you here (for example YouTube) — no IP address. Beside that count, the cookie that keeps your recent videos to your own browser also remembers that country and the site that first brought you here, so we can see where the people who make videos (and, if you leave an email, who sign up) come from. If — and only if — you press "Accept" on our cookie banner, we load the Meta Pixel, which sets Meta's cookies so we can measure and show our ads to people who visited; decline and it never loads.
YouTube
QuranClips uses YouTube API Services to let you post a video you made here to your own YouTube channel. When you connect a channel, Google asks you to allow QuranClips to upload videos and to see your YouTube account. With that permission we:
- read your channel's name and ID, only to show you which channel is connected;
- store an access token for your channel, so we can upload the videos you choose to post — and nothing else;
- upload the video and caption you ask us to post, when you ask us to.
- if — and only if — you turn on the autopilot for your channel: make Shorts for it and upload them at the times you chose, until you turn it off. You can ask to approve each one first.
We do not read, analyse or download anything else from your YouTube account, and we never share this information or the token with anyone. Google's handling of your data is described in the Google Privacy Policy, and using the YouTube feature means you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service.
You can take that permission back at any time: press "Disconnect" in QuranClips (we then revoke the token at Google and delete it), or revoke QuranClips's access yourself on the Google security settings page. Deleting your account does the same. Ask us to delete any YouTube data we hold and we will do so within 7 days.
The legal basis
We process your uploads and account on the basis of providing the service you asked for. The daily network code for free Shorts rests on our legitimate interest in keeping a free service from being abused. Marketing email is processed on the basis of your consent, which you are free to give or withdraw.
How long we keep it
We keep your account, saved videos and uploads until you ask us to delete them, or until your account has been inactive for 24 months, after which we remove them. Withdraw marketing consent and we stop emailing you immediately.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers needed to run QuranClips (for example hosting and rendering, sending the sign-in codes you ask for and, if you opted in, product email), and only for that purpose. If you make a free Short without an account, Cloudflare may check that you are a person and not an automated script (Cloudflare Turnstile). Videos you post to YouTube are, of course, shared with YouTube — that is what posting is.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold, correct it, delete it, or stop using it, and you can withdraw marketing consent at any time. Email quranclips.com@gmail.com and we will act on your request. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top.
